Counselling Fees in Plymouth
I want to make the process of starting counselling as clear and straightforward as possible. That is why I share my cost of counselling openly here. When you are already feeling overwhelmed or anxious, the last thing you need is confusion about costs. My hope is that by being transparent, you can focus on what really matters: deciding whether therapy might help you feel more like yourself again.
Below you will find a simple breakdown of my current counselling fees in Plymouth and online. If anything is unclear, or if you have a question that is not covered here, please feel free to reach out. I am always happy to talk things through.
Standard Counselling Fees for Plymouth and Online
My standard fee for a 60-minute counselling session is £55. This remains the same whether we meet in person at my Plymouth practice or connect online through a secure video platform. Each session gives us a full hour of uninterrupted time, which I find is enough to gently explore what is on your mind without feeling rushed.
I keep my fees consistent from session to session so that you always know where you stand. There are no surprise charges for session notes, preparation time, or the occasional need to reschedule when life throws something unexpected your way. You pay for the session time itself, and that is all.
Reduced Rate Sessions for Student Counsellors
I offer a limited number of reduced rate sessions at £35 per 60-minute session. These are reserved for student counsellors who are currently in training and are seeking their own personal therapy. This might be as part of your course requirements or for your own personal growth and self-awareness.
Training to become a counsellor is a deeply rewarding but sometimes challenging process, and having your own space to explore your experiences is a valuable part of that journey. If you are a student counsellor based in or around Plymouth and this option appeals to you, I invite you to get in touch to discuss current availability. These spaces are limited, so I cannot always guarantee a place, but I will do my best to accommodate you.
Your Free Introductory Call
Before committing to any sessions, I offer a free introductory video call. This call typically lasts around 15 to 20 minutes and comes with no obligation whatsoever. It is simply an opportunity for us to connect, for you to tell me a little about what is bringing you to counselling, and for you to ask any questions you might have about how I work.
I understand that reaching out for help can feel like a big step, especially if you have been carrying things on your own for a while. The free call is designed to feel as low-pressure as possible. Some people come to the call feeling nervous and leave feeling relieved. Others use the time to decide that counselling is not quite right for them right now, and that is okay too. Either way, you will have had the chance to explore your options without any commitment.
If we both feel that we could work well together, we can then arrange your first session at a regular time that fits around your life. You can book your video call by clicking the button below, or if you would rather chat via text, WhatsApp or email, you can find all of my details on my contact page.
How Counselling Sessions Work
My counselling practice in Plymouth offers a warm, welcoming space where you can bring whatever is on your mind. Sessions are 60 minutes long and usually take place on the same day and time each week. This consistency helps build a sense of safety and trust, which I believe is essential for therapy to be effective.
I work with an integrative approach, meaning I draw from different therapeutic models to suit your unique needs. We might use talking therapy, explore patterns from your past, or work with practical tools like journalling prompts, grounding exercises, or thought challenges, all depending on what feels most helpful to you in the moment.
I specialise in supporting women who feel overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. I also offer a neurodivergent-affirming space, informed by my own lived experience with ADHD. If you suspect you might be neurodivergent, or if you are already diagnosed and looking for someone who understands the nuances of masking, self-doubt, and executive function challenges, you are welcome here.
My role is not to tell you what to do or to fix you. You are not broken. I am here to walk alongside you, to help you make sense of your feelings, and to support you in finding your own path forward at a pace that feels right for you.
Getting Started with Counselling
If you feel ready to take the first step, or even if you are simply curious about whether counselling might be helpful, I invite you to get in touch. You can contact me through my contact page or by clicking on the button below to arrange your free introductory call. We can talk through what is on your mind and explore how I might be able to support you.
There is no pressure after the call. You are welcome to take as much time as you need before deciding whether to book a session. I know that reaching out can feel like a vulnerable thing to do, and I will do everything I can to make the process feel gentle, respectful, and kind.
If you already know you would like to go ahead, I can usually offer you a first session within a week or two, depending on current availability. I will do my best to find a time that works for you, whether that is during the day, in the evening, or at a weekend.
Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some common questions about my counselling fees and how sessions work.
What does the £55 session fee include?
The £55 fee covers a full 60-minute counselling session. It includes the session time itself, any preparation or reflection I do related to our work. There are no hidden extras or additional charges for notes or administration. You always know exactly what you are paying for.
Do you offer concessions on counselling fees in Plymouth for students or those on a low income?
I offer a limited number of reduced rate sessions at £35 per session for student counsellors currently in training, and people on a low income. These are offered on a first-come, first-served basis subject to availability. I encourage you to get in touch to discuss whether this option is currently open for you. I hold a list of low cost or free counselling services in the Plymouth area that I am happy to signpost you to other services if private counselling fees don’t feel practical at the moment.
What happens during the free introductory call?
The free introductory call is a relaxed conversation that usually lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. You can share a little about what is bringing you to therapy, ask any questions you have about my approach or fees, and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me. There is no obligation after the call.
Do you offer online counselling alongside in-person sessions?
Yes, I offer both in-person counselling in Plymouth and online counselling via a secure video platform. Online sessions are ideal if you have mobility challenges, live outside Plymouth, or simply prefer the comfort of your own home. Both options are charged at the same rate of £55 per session.
How do I book my first session?
To book your first session, simply contact me through my website to arrange a free introductory call. After the call, if you decide to go ahead, we will find a regular time that works for you.
