Counselling for Overwhelm in Plymouth
Feeling overwhelmed can be exhausting, especially when you are still trying to keep everything going on the outside.
You might be managing work, relationships, family, messages, decisions, responsibilities and the constant noise of everyday life, while quietly feeling stretched too thin underneath.
I offer counselling in Plymouth for women who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, burnt out, or stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing and trying to hold everything together.
Feeling overwhelmed all the time?
Sometimes overwhelm builds slowly.
You may have spent so long coping, pushing through, staying organised, looking after other people, or trying not to fall behind that you barely notice how much pressure you are carrying until everything starts to feel heavy.
Overwhelm can show up in lots of different ways, including:
- feeling emotionally drained
- struggling to switch off
- overthinking everything
- snapping more easily
- feeling anxious or constantly on edge
- finding small tasks difficult to start
- feeling mentally overloaded
- struggling with motivation or focus
- feeling guilty for needing rest
- feeling like you are constantly failing to keep up
You do not need to be in crisis to seek support.
Sometimes counselling simply gives you space to stop carrying everything alone for a while.
You might look capable on the outside, but feel exhausted underneath
Many women I work with are used to appearing capable, thoughtful and reliable, even when they are struggling internally.
You might be the person everyone depends on. The one who keeps going, keeps coping, keeps thinking ahead and keeps trying to stay on top of everything, while privately feeling emotionally exhausted underneath it all.
Sometimes overwhelm is connected to:
- masking how difficult things really feel
- people-pleasing and overcommitting
- anxiety and overthinking
- perfectionism
- emotional burnout
- difficulty slowing down or resting
- feeling constantly “behind”
- ADHD-related struggles that have never fully been understood
You do not need a diagnosis or a clear explanation for why things feel hard.
Counselling can offer space to understand yourself more gently, without pressure or judgement.
How counselling can help with overwhelm
When you are overwhelmed for a long time, it can become difficult to hear your own thoughts clearly.
You may feel stuck in survival mode, constantly reacting, overthinking, pushing yourself through exhaustion, or trying to keep up with everything around you.
Counselling offers space to slow things down.
Together, we can explore what is contributing to the overwhelm, what patterns may be keeping you stuck, and what you need emotionally underneath the pressure you have been carrying.
Therapy is not about forcing you to “fix yourself” or become endlessly productive.
It can be a space to:
- understand yourself more clearly
- process difficult emotions
- explore boundaries and self-worth
- reduce self-criticism
- recognise patterns like people-pleasing or masking
- reconnect with your own needs
- build a calmer relationship with yourself
Sessions move at your pace, without judgement or pressure to have everything figured out.
Sessions cost £55 and last for 60 minutes.
A calmer space to slow down and reconnect
I offer a calm, supportive space where you can speak openly about what things have felt like for you, without needing to minimise, explain everything perfectly, or hold it all together.
Sometimes people come to counselling because life feels unmanageable. Other times, they simply feel tired of coping alone.
You may not have words yet for why things feel difficult. That is okay.
Counselling can give you space to slow down, untangle what has been building up underneath the surface, and begin understanding yourself with more compassion and clarity.
My approach is gentle, collaborative and shaped around what feels helpful for you.
I offer counselling in Plymouth and online.
Counselling in Plymouth and online
I offer in-person counselling in Plymouth as well as online sessions across the UK.
Some people prefer the calm, private space of face-to-face sessions, while others find online counselling easier to fit around work, family life, energy levels or everyday responsibilities.
